Ukrainians Plan to Buy Homes More Actively in 2026: Survey Results

According to a recent survey conducted by the marketplace OLX, which involved 8,808 Ukrainians, there is a noticeable increase in interest in purchasing housing in 2026. One in four respondents (23%) expressed their intention to buy real estate within the year, while another 31% plan to make such a purchase within the next five years. In comparison, a similar survey conducted in January 2025 indicated that only 12% of citizens had such plans. At the same time, 46% of respondents are currently not considering the possibility of buying a home.

Main Reasons for Purchasing Real Estate

Improving living conditions has become the primary motivation for those planning to buy real estate, cited by 43% of respondents. Additionally, 32% indicated that they are considering the option of purchasing a home with the help of a loan. For 19%, buying real estate is a way to invest or save money, while another 5% plan to use the property for developing their own business.

Preferred Regions for Home Purchases

The vast majority of respondents (93%) are considering the possibility of buying apartments or houses. Land plots interest 4% of respondents, while commercial real estate attracts 2%. The highest demand in the market is observed in the Kyiv region (35% of respondents), Lviv region (14%), Odesa region (10%), Ivano-Frankivsk region (9%), and Dnipropetrovsk region (9%).

Stability of personal income and economic forecasts have become the most significant criteria for 51% of survey participants when making decisions about purchasing real estate.

This is almost double the figure from January 2025, when a similar survey showed that only 12% of citizens planned to buy a home.”
