Ukrenergo Restores Power Supply to Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant After Accident

Specialists from the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo” have completed the restoration of the high-voltage power line that supplies electricity to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Thanks to the work carried out, the facility is once again receiving power from the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.

Emergency Measures Due to Security Threat

As reported by the company, it was impossible to carry out emergency restoration work immediately after the line was disconnected due to the threat to workers. As a result, the plant operated for a period on diesel generators, which are used as a backup power source to support the operation of critical systems.

“After several hours of operation on diesel generators, the ZNPP is once again receiving power from the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government,” the statement said.

Importance of Restoring Power Supply for the NPP

The restoration of power supply to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has allowed for the normal operation of infrastructure and ensured the safety of the facility. Temporarily, during the damage to the line, the plant operated on diesel generators, which is a last resort to support the vital systems of the NPP.
