Ukrzaliznytsia Strengthens Security Measures at Train Stations Due to Rising Threats

JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” has announced the enhancement of security control at train stations across Ukraine in response to increasing terrorist threats from the Russian Federation. The company’s management urges passengers to be extremely vigilant and to arrive at railway stations at least 20-30 minutes before the train’s departure to allow sufficient time for additional security checks.

Enhanced Control: What Has Changed for Passengers
According to the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, this decision was made after repeated threats from the aggressors regarding attempts to paralyze the railway’s operations. He emphasized that all passengers should closely monitor the situation at the stations, near the tracks, and while on the trains. Special attention is required for suspicious actions or abandoned items — if detected, they must be reported immediately to railway staff or law enforcement officers.
“We urge passengers to remain as vigilant as possible. Pay attention to everything happening around you – at the stations, near the tracks, when looking out the window! Any suspicious actions, individuals, or items – report them to nearby railway staff or immediately to law enforcement,” the official requested.
Oleksandr Pertsovskyi also noted that due to the enhanced security measures, train delays may occur. He advised planning trips with potential slowdowns in mind, as the schedule may change due to additional checks and responses to threats.
Increase in Sabotage and Attacks on Railway Infrastructure
Recently, there have been instances where special devices intended to derail trains were found on the tracks. In particular, a week ago, conductors Polyakov and Kuleshov, thanks to their vigilance, managed to stop a train 50 meters before a dangerous device. Two days later, another crew also discovered a similar device and photographic evidence nearby.
Oleksandr Pertsovskyi recently visited Kherson, which has been under constant shelling for an extended period. He reported that local residents are forced to wait for trains in shelters, while locomotives and rolling stock become targets for drone attacks. Despite the danger, railway workers continue to provide connections to the city, working in bulletproof vests and protective helmets, and constantly restoring infrastructure after shelling.
Overall, according to the head of “Ukrzaliznytsia”, Ukraine’s railway infrastructure has already been attacked over 3,700 times. Approximately 300 crimes have been recorded as sabotage or terrorist acts, as well as over 400 instances of violations of the laws and customs of war. The enemy employs a wide range of weaponry against railway facilities, including Kalibr missiles, X-22, X-101, aerial bombs, artillery, kamikaze drones, and other means of destruction.
