According to updated data from the State Statistics Service, the price increases have affected most categories of the consumer basket.

Leaders in Price Growth: Eggs, Apples, and Meat

The highest price increase has been observed for eggs – over the year, their price rose from 35.3 to 54.2 UAH per dozen, which is +53.6%. Apples have also seen a significant price increase, rising from 26.5 to 48.8 UAH per kilogram (+84.4%).

Significant price increases have been recorded for meat. Pork has increased in price from 182.7 to 251.8 UAH per kilogram (+37.8%). Chicken fillet rose from 168.3 to 226.3 UAH (+34.5%), and whole chickens increased from 91 to 118 UAH (+29.8%).

Price Increases for Bread, Grains, and Dairy Products

The cost of bakery products has also risen. Bread made from premium wheat flour increased from 48.9 to 59.1 UAH per kilogram (+20.8%), a loaf from 26 to 30 UAH (+15.5%), and rye-wheat bread from 41.8 to 49.7 UAH (+18.9%).

Barley groats increased by 32.3%, buckwheat by 20.8%, semolina by 25.7%, and millet by 12.7%.

Dairy products are not lagging behind in terms of price growth. Milk rose from 40.1 to 47.5 UAH/l (+18.2%), sour cream from 116.5 to 140.9 UAH/kg (+21%), and cheese from 193.9 to 229 UAH (+18.1%).

Butter increased from 85 to 109.8 UAH for 200 grams (+29.2%). Sunflower oil rose in price from 63 to 83.2 UAH/l (+32.2%). Infant formula milk mixtures increased from 146.5 to 165.1 UAH for 250 g (+12.7%).

Vegetables Become Cheaper, Sugar Loses Value

Despite the overall increase in food prices, vegetables have actually become cheaper. The price of cabbage has fallen the most – nearly halving, from 28 to 14.2 UAH per kilogram (-49.4%). Significant decreases have also been observed for other vegetables: beets decreased by 21%, carrots by 20.3%, onions by 16.3%, and potatoes by 13.3%.

Sugar has decreased in price by 9.2% – from 35.1 to 31.9 UAH per kilogram.

Experts note that this increase in food prices is explained by rising production costs, logistical expenses, and seasonal fluctuations. However, the decrease in vegetable prices partially mitigates the overall level of food inflation.
