EU and Ukraine Jointly Launch Large-Scale Drone Production
The European Union is initiating large-scale production of drones and counter-drone technologies in partnership with Ukraine. This was announced by European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner. The first phase will involve an investment of 400 million euros to strengthen the capabilities of EU member states in the field of drone production and counter-drone measures.

EU Responds to Threats from Unknown Drones
The impetus for this initiative was the emergence of unknown drones over critical infrastructure sites in the EU in recent months. To effectively counter such threats, an international real-time information exchange system regarding suspicious or unauthorized drone activities is planned. This will enable authorities to quickly identify potential threats and respond to them swiftly. Special attention will be paid to strengthening the eastern border of the European Union.
“Mass production” of drones and counter-drone technologies, as well as “rapid scaling of industrial production,” will be key elements of the new EU plan.
Ukraine Becomes a Strategic Partner of the EU in Drone Production
As part of this cooperation, Ukraine plays a significant role in enhancing European military capabilities. It is expected that by 2026, Kyiv will open ten export centers for Ukrainian military products in European countries, with a primary focus on combat drones. Additionally, the production of Ukrainian drones will commence in February this year in Germany, further expanding export opportunities and strengthening the defense capabilities of both the EU and Ukraine.
