Protests in Kyiv for Japanese Remote-Controlled Excavator System

In Kyiv, Ukrainian specialists successfully tested a modern Japanese technology for remote control of excavators, which allows for the operation of heavy machinery from significant distances. During the demonstration, operators controlled a machine that was initially 25 km away from Boryspil and then from the Japanese city of Kobe, over 8000 km away.

Advantages of the Technology and Areas of Application

The demonstration of the innovative system took place with the participation of Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development Marina Denisyuk. She emphasized that remote control of excavators allows construction and restoration work to be carried out without the operator being present on-site. This approach is particularly important during the reconstruction of infrastructure after wartime destruction.

“Operators can work literally from anywhere that has a cabin. This is relevant for conducting work in regions that have been most affected by destruction – during debris clearance, demining, and the restoration of roads, bridges, housing, and social infrastructure facilities,” Denisyuk noted.

Remote technologies also open new employment opportunities. They allow veterans, people with disabilities, and mothers on maternity leave to perform their professional duties remotely.

Plans for Cooperation and the Need for Modernization

During the meeting, preparations for the Second State-Private JUPITeR Mission were discussed, as well as the selection process for Japanese companies that will visit Ukraine in the spring of next year.

Marina Denisyuk emphasized that to effectively implement such technologies in Ukraine, it is necessary to update the regulatory framework, ensure training for specialists, and organize cooperation between government agencies, businesses, and the scientific community.
