The Latvian startup Ardlat, funded by the private fund Ardelta, is actively developing and manufacturing FPV drones with fiber-optic control. A distinctive feature of these drones is the use of proprietary spools with fiber-optic cables and specialized communication modules. The company offers various spool options with cable lengths ranging from 5 to 45 km, ensuring stable control over long distances.

Ardlat Drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Most of the unmanned systems produced by Ardlat are supplied to Ukraine for the needs of the Armed Forces. The total number of drones delivered to the front approaches 1,000 units. Thanks to the unique technological solutions from the Latvian manufacturer, Ukrainian military forces receive modern means of reconnaissance and target engagement, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of operations on the battlefield.

Localization of Engine Production in Ukraine

According to Igor Fedirko, a representative of the Ukrainian Arms Council, at least two Ukrainian companies are already conducting a full production cycle for power units for long-range drones. This includes all stages—from die-casting to final assembly of engines. Such localization allows for quicker adaptation of products to various types and tasks of unmanned aerial vehicles. However, the existing capacities are still insufficient to fully meet military needs.

“This involves a complete cycle of manufacturing power units (from die-casting to final assembly), which opens up opportunities to more rapidly adapt engines to different tasks and classes of devices. However, current capacities do not yet meet all military needs.”

In addition, the Ukrainian company DroneUA, which specializes in UAV and robotics solutions, is expanding its international presence. Recently, the company opened an office in London, UK, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the British market and the globalization of the Ukrainian tech business. According to DroneUA founder Valeriy Yakovenko, the opening of the London office is another step in strengthening the positions of Ukrainian engineers in the global innovation market.
