Extensive damage and product leak
As a result of direct hits from the drones, oil storage tanks were destroyed and damaged. This led to a leak of over 1100 tons of product. Thanks to the prompt actions of the staff, the leak was quickly contained, preventing oil from entering the sea, so there is no threat to the environment.
“As a result of the attack on the Kernel terminal, one tank was completely destroyed, while others showed signs of damage”
In addition to the tanks, debris from the drones damaged the logistics infrastructure, including four railway tank cars, as well as office premises and part of the equipment. As a result of the strike, a large fire broke out on the terminal’s territory, which was promptly extinguished.
Suspension of operations and company measures
Due to significant destruction, the enterprise temporarily suspended the acceptance and shipment of products. One employee sustained moderate injuries from debris and received necessary medical assistance; there is no threat to life.
Currently, work is ongoing to eliminate the consequences of the attack and assess the extent of the damage to the infrastructure. Despite the temporary loss of operational capacity at the terminal in Chornomorsk, Kernel continues to fulfill export contracts and ensures uninterrupted product supplies to clients. To this end, the company is utilizing partner port terminals in Odesa and on the Danube, as well as organizing ground logistics, including rail transportation.
