Exports of agricultural products to the EU are growing

In January-September period of 2017, the exports of Ukrainian agrarian and food products to the European Union increased by 39.8% compared with the same period last year, and totaled 4.177 bln USD.

The imports from European countries grew by 11.7%, and totaled 1.581 bln USD, reported the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for European Integration, Olga Trofimtseva on November 1.

In particular, Ukraine increased the exports to the EU markets mainly due to enlarging of supplies of the following products: corn - up 57.4%, and rapeseed - up 72.9%, and sunflower oil - up 23%. In addition, Ukraine significantly increased the supplies of poultry meat and edible offal, honey, confectionery products, margarine products and such interesting alternate products, as sorghum or flaxseed, she explained.

The Deputy Minister specified that the Netherlands with a share of 17.6%, Spain - 15.5%, Poland - 12.9%, Italy - 11.9%, and Germany - 9.9%, were the key importers of Ukrainian agricultural and food products among the EU countries.

Also, the EU markets continued growing its demand for Ukrainian finished products. So, in January-September of 2017 Ukraine exported butter to the EU at the sum of 12.6 mln USD, and while in the same period of 2016 the figures totaled 5 thsd USD only. At the same time, Ukraine increased the supplies of ice cream, condensed milk, starch, sugar confectioneries, etc., added O.Trofimtseva.
